Black History Month

 We are in the month of February which is also known as black history month. February is known as black history month because many events such as the passage of the fifteenth amendment, the death of Malcolm X, and the birth of W.E.B Dubois( co-founder of the NAACP). Black history was first recognized by a U.S historian named Carter G Woodson and celebrated by Americans in 1926. It was first called Negro History Week by Carter and then changed to black history month. Black history is celebrated in February in the United States, Canada, and in October in the United Kingdom. It is basically the remembrance of important African Americans and events in the history of African diaspora.
